THE OPPORTUNITYThe Manufacturing Engineer will work alongside a
Director and be responsible for coordinating with the design,
sales, business development and operations teams to develop
manufacturing plans for new products to achieve corporate cost and
quality objectives. Work with the Cost models to understand
Financials and create an environment of commercial expertise.
Additionally, the responsibilities will include leading the
manufacturing processes with the goal to define the Gestamp
"Factory of the Future" utilizing collaborative robots, AMR's/AGV
and Industry 4.0.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in developing and designing robust manufacturing
concepts to simplify/improve manufacturing processes to ensure
best-practice and lean manufacturing concepts to archive or exceed
quality and customer requirements and expectations.
- Establish and maintain equipment specifications and performance
requirements for manufacturing equipment (SOR).
- Create and maintain process documentation including process
flow charts, characteristic matrix, process illustrations, PFMEA,
control plans, process sheets, visual aids, gage instructions,
control charts, capacity and utilization charts and others.
- Perform tact and cycle time studies for all processes.
- Conduct regular project meetings with management and team
members to track project status and progress.
- Assist in supporting the development of budgets for all aspects
of the project
- Understand and comply with all GHSI, MiOSHA, safety and PPE
requirements.
- Help drive technical requirements, support sourcing decisions
and manage equipment integrator and tool vendor activities for
plant production equipment, gauges and tooling.
- Will also provide support for all manufacturing sites within
the NAFTA regions including plant engineering teams and business
units.
- Assist with requirements and implementation of TS16949/
ISO14001. Ensure compliance with TS16949/ISO14001 and customer
specific requirements.
- Attend customer meetings and customer process
reviews/audits.
- Supports VA/VE DFM/DFA and related activities to facilitate
design alternatives that improve product manufacturing feasibility,
efficiency and effectiveness. Provides launch support.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, or equivalent level of experience.
- Understanding of manufacturing engineering with respect to one
or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, complex
product assemblies, tooling, fixtures and gauges.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, corrective
action and root cause analysis programs or tools.
- Understanding of FMEA and GD&T.
- Some knowledge of SAP and/or Captor
- Some exposure/experience in a medium to high volume
manufacturing environment preferred.
- Results orientation, self-starter with strong written and oral
communications skills.

opportunities for improvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Technical Skills: Possesses, acquires, and maintains the
technical/professional expertise required to do the job effectively
and to create client/customer solutions.

clients/customers, suppliers, other departments, organizations to
meet mutual goals and objectives. Behaves professionally and
supportively when working with individuals from a variety of
ethnic, social and educational backgrounds.
- Candidate must be willing to have the flexibility to provide
support to a continuous operations product environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time and
work extended hours based on customer demand and production
schedule.
- Basic understanding of Allen Bradley and/or Siemens controls
strongly desired.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office. ISO/QS knowledge is a
plus.
