Job Description
LER TechForce, an LHP affiliate, previously LHP Engineering
Resources, is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to work in
Metro Detroit. This is a full-time role and sponsorship is
allowed.
The Senior Hardware Engineer is responsible for implementation of a
high-level functional block diagram of an architecture for an ECU,
into a detailed circuit diagram and associated board layout. The
Senior Hardware Engineer is furthermore responsible for selecting
the proper parts and designing the circuits for the proper support
electronics such as power supplies, peripheral interfaces, etc. The
Senior Hardware Engineer is also responsible for taking into
consideration all EMC, functional safety, and security requirements
into the design of the electronics hardware.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of all research, engineering, and
development activity within the area of embedded hardware within
the R&D organization.
- Integrate automotive sensors and systems such as cameras,
radars, lidars, positioning solutions into computer platforms.
- Ability to perform the design and development of analog and
digital hardware projects for cutting edge electronics for
automobiles such as infotainment systems.
- Embedded hardware development from small micro controllers to
high-end multi core devices. All aspects from power supply, high
speed interfaces to the latest and greatest trends in memory
technology must be integrated.
- Lead and manage suppliers, partners, and universities towards
project goals.
- 10+ years of recent experience working on actual product
development either as a technical management, product / system
architect or a developer.
- Experience in the design, development, or integration of
cutting-edge automotive electronics.
- Deep technical expertise in an automotive electronics quality,
reliability, and manufacturability, related to autonomous systems
is preferred.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in at least several of
the following fields listed below. As a minimum for each of the
field's knowledge must be available which allows a strong converse
with an expert in the respective fields:
- Understanding of the fundamental terms of computer architecture
and their benefits and drawbacks.
- Good overview over recent processor / SoC products/roadmaps
from major silicon suppliers.
- Processor architectures and cores, GPU, DSP cores, etc.
- Experience or knowledge related to FPGAs.
- Understanding of design and manufacturing of the silicon
devices and you should be familiar with current silicon process
nodes and their benefits and drawbacks.
- Understanding of analog and power electronics, process for
schematics design, board layout and manufacturing process for
prototyping and series production.
- Knowledge of automotive bus systems including the recent
developments in multi-media links, automotive Ethernet, basic
knowledge of wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, mesh networks and
GNSS systems.
- Understanding of AUTOSAR and OSEK for automotive software.
- Software development process from bare metal assembler to
complex software projects.
- Experience with procedural, functional, object oriented and
aspect-oriented programming languages both interpreted and
compiled.
- Knowledge of server-based systems for web server and big data
storage and processing. Fundamental concepts of cloud-based
systems.
- Experience with real-time control software for mission critical
systems.
- Understanding and hands-on experience of embedded operating
systems.
- Design and implement peripheral interface and support circuits
for Automotive Ethernet communications.
- Design and implement peripheral interface and support circuits
for Automotive Camera systems using serializer/de-serializer
(SerDes) technologies.
- Familiarity with ASIL level requirements, functional safety and
cyber security.
- Must be able to travel internationally on an occasional
basis.
- Valid driver's license.
Additional Information:
- Master's Degree in electronics engineering, computer science,
electrical engineering, physics or similar is required.
- 5+ years of recent experience working on actual product
development as a technical HW development engineer.
- Experience in the design, development, or integration of
cutting-edge automotive electronics.
- Technical expertise in an automotive electronics quality,
reliability, and manufacturability, related to control systems is
preferred.
