POSITION OVERVIEW
Hyzon Motors is searching for a Sr. Engineer, Fuel Cell Stack Development that will be based in Troy, Michigan. The Sr. Engineer, Fuel Cell Stack development will be part of the team developing fuel cell system products for commercial vehicles. The Sr. Engineer, Fuel Cell Stack Development will lead the design and development of the PEM fuel cell stacks and/or stack components such as unit cell, end plate, MEA, compression hardware, housing, sealing, manifolds, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead fuel cell stack or components (unit cell, end plate, MEA, compression hardware, housing, sealing, manifolds, etc.) design and development
• Create new designs and modify existing designs for cost reduction, improvement of manufacturability, performance, durability, and/or quality
• Create stack or component specifications, CAD models and drawings, and integration instruction
• Develop stack assembling and testing instructions with the manufacturing team
• Responsible for stack engineering activities such as design reviews, DVP&R, DFMEA, specification and manual development
• Perform stack or component testing and root cause analysis of failures
• Work with stack or component suppliers
• Benchmark industry-wide fuel cell stack and/or component design concepts and products QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent; Master or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent preferred
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with fuel cell stack OR component design and development; 3+ years of experience of leading fuel cell stack OR component design and development preferred
  • Experience with mechanical, electrochemical, and/or thermal analysis of fuel cell stack or components
  • Familiarity with analytical methods and/or experimental characterizations of fuel cell stack or components preferred
  • Experience with automotive fuel cell systems preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to collaboratively work for challenges
  • Occasional travel
