Job Description:

The SQE will be based in our Troy office and initially stationed as a Resident Engineer at a high impact supplier in Shelby Township Michigan.


Perform supplier sourcing, development and monitoring tasks. Serve as point of contact between WKW and NAFTA supply base for Quality issues. Review and disposition supplier PPAPs and corrective actions. Visit suppliers as needed to ensure conforming product is produced and shipped to WKW.


Duties to include but not limited to:


- Perform onsite Supplier Assessments


- Monitor supplier performance including issuing corrective actions for deficiencies


- Visit suppliers as needed


- Participate as team member in supplier improvement projects


- Report supplier ratings to Quality Manager and to suppliers


- Capable of inspecting parts produced for conformity to specification


- Data entry and basic analysis of statistical process control charts


- Assist/lead suppliers in containment activities for possible quality spills and initiate the corrective action process


- Communicate with suppliers to resolve supplier concerns.


- Ability to identify visual defects and make dispositions on inspected materials


Technical Skills and Work Experience:


- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred


- Experience with supplier monitoring and reporting activities preferred


- Minimum 3 years of Quality Engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment


- Ability to travel up to 85% of the time


- Must be proficient using MS Office applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint


- Familiar with APQP, PPAP, drawings and control plans


- A proven track record of results, ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision


- Ability to effectively handle multiple activities simultaneously and successfully function in a cross functional manufacturing environment


- Good basic metrology skills - height gage, calipers, micrometers---


- Ability to identify and make quality determination for visual defects.


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
