Overview -The senior development technician for bevel gears will be
responsible for the manufacturing support of Spiral Bevel, Hypoid,
Straight Bevel, Differential and Parallel Axis Gearing with focus
on development of hypoid and spiral bevel gears used by Meritor in
current and future products. Responsibilities require experience in
various gear manufacturing processes including but not limited to
Gleason and Klingelnberg systems as well as various cylindrical
gear systems is a plus. The senior development technician will work
in a multidisciplinary environment with gear development center
manager, gear designers, application engineers, test engineers and
plant manufacturing engineers to facilitate development and
production of different types of gears, shafts, and other gear
related components. - Job Responsibilities ----The senior
development technician, bevel gears will report to the Mgr. Gear
Development Center in Gear Technology department and will work both
independently and on teams depending on the type of project
assignments.---This position is responsible for development,
prototyping and inspection works related to all type of gear
manufacturing activities with the focus on spiral bevel and hypoid
gear developments. Principal Accountabilities:--- Support
development and manufacturing of all types of gears, splines and
clutch teeth. Specially bevel gears.--- Main responsibility is to
set gear processing machines (hobbing, milling, inspection,
lapping, grinding, testing, etc.), operate them and make parts and
inspect and correct when/if necessary. Share the inspection results
with Gear Development Center Manager as well as gear design team
and decide next steps.--- Find and report and record potential
development issues to be resolved prior to sending any development
jobs to production facilities.--- Find and suggest improvement
possibilities with flexibility improvement related but not limited
to tooling and work holding etc.--- Ability to work on multiple
programs and on teams.--- Be able to travel domestically and
internationally. Be able to write detailed technical reports and
make technical presentations.--- Support development and
Implementation of Best Practices and Guidelines.--- Ensure timely
completion of all project objectives.
