Benefits We Have to Offer: * Health, Dental, Vision, Disability & Life Insurance* 401K Retirement Plan* Paid Holidays* PTO * Flexible Spending Account* Tuition Reimbursement (coming 2021)Position DescriptionThe Medical Management Support Specialist focus is to provide administrative coordination for the daily activities of the Specialty Program Nurse Practitioner of VPA Housecalls as they provide in-home patient care and assist with the day to day operations of the Specialty Care programs i.e. Palliative Care and Behavior Health. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Responsible to answer calls and collect all pertinent medical information needed for the Specialty Program Nurse Practitioners of VPA Housecalls medical decision making * Responsible for processing the Specialty Program Nurse Practitioner of VPA Housecalls orders* Responsible as the point person for the Specialty Program Nurse Practitioner of VPA Housecalls patients, facilities, and other healthcare professionals* Contacts patient/caregiver by telephone to schedule Specialty Program Nurse Practitioner of VPA Housecalls visits * Receives incoming calls from individuals requesting a Specialty Program Nurse Practitioner of VPA Housecalls visits* Enters all required information in system and maintains follow up when necessary * Prepares visit schedule for the next business day after all appointments are confirmed * Scheduling consult and specialist appointments* Requesting medical records* Documenting all calls in EMR* Collaborates with other US Medical Management business line employees * Reviewing and assigning Faxes and attachments* Works with Medical Management RN when triage is needed and urgency is escalated* Communicates regularly with the health plan point person to provide updated patient census reports * Schedules--Interdisciplinary meetings with the health plan and the Specialty Program Nurse Practitioner of VPA Housecalls* Assists in the coordination of performance improvement activities and provides assistance in the development of reports. * Maintains patient confidentiality and all HIPAA privacy requirements* Attends required meetings and in-services* Performs related work as requiredREQUIRED Knowledge, Skills and Experience* Certified (AAMA) MA or Registered (RMT) MA or 3 years of medical experience as a Medical Assistant or LPN/LVN, EMT, Military Medic, Paramedic, Foreign Nursing Grad, or Foreign Medical Grad* Minimum 2 years of office experience in health care coordination* Strong medical office call experience with ability to collect appropriate medical information from the patient/caller to communicate to provider* Ability to work closely with Clinical Support Service Team * Basic working knowledge of medical terminology * Effective and professional telephonic customer services* Ability to develop rapport with patients/caregivers and customers telephonically * Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook* Strong customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills with excellent multi-tasking and prioritization* Professional demeanor, self-motivated, and dependable* Ability to communicate effectively with all personnel levels within the organization* Strong phone communication skillsPreferred Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceExperience in EMR
