DRIVE AN ACCELERATION TOWARDS ZERO EMISSIONS IN TRANSPORTATION THROUGH BETTER POWER ELECTRONICS.This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment, Vehicle Electrification Systems business unit. Summary:We have an exciting opportunity for a System Engineering Manager that will be located in Troy, MI.This position is a critical system engineering role within our recently formed Vehicle Electrification Systems group focused on delivering technical breakthroughs, industry leading products, and commercial success through our power electronics investments.As one of the first systems engineers on the team, you will play a key role in the design of our first product. Your design will ensure that our products have a unique selling proposition that lives up to the strategy and stand the test of time. You will be at the heart of every design decision and advance not just your skills, but the power electronics field. Through system integration and innovation, we strongly believe that there is an opportunity deliver more power electronics performance, efficiency and value as OEMs develop their next generation EV and PHEV offerings to fulfill consumer demand that we can further accelerate. With your experience, we will execute this vision and make it happen in the very near term.Responsibilities:

  • Refine and drive the implementation of our power electronics software strategy ensuring that all developed products deliver an optimal solution that balances efficiency, power density, reliability, quality, and cost
  • Build our power electronics investment and development capabilities. Define key positions; organizational structure; assess employee competency, capabilities and gaps; training and development assignments; and support recruitment to ensure that the team is on the leading edge
  • Define software specifications, requirements, and tradeoffs. Deliver product software technology concepts to meet requirements and drive the necessary levels of convergence to ensure commercial scalability and attractive returns on investment
  • Effectively lead and conduct design reviews for power electronic software and subsystems with the goal of meeting all desired timing, performance and development cost outcomes
  • Manage risks, compromises, and their impact in a timely manner. Actively seek and remove impediments getting in the way of desired outcomes in collaboration with other leaders within Aptiv
  • Continuously develop a team that is a true embodiment of Aptiv's values and a driver of our culture transformation through leading by example and fostering a fun and inclusive results driven environment
  • Build deep technical partnerships with the world's leading OEMs and suppliers to drive the industry's progress in power electronics and support Aptiv's sourcing, product development and commercial efforts
  • Manage a firmware/software team for power electronics product development, software architecture design and implementation and own power electronics real time control requirements, source code, software implementation and test
  • Develop software component testing methodologies and implementations to ensure maturity/reliability and design with ISO-26262 and ASPICE awareness, compliance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements. Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, computer science or equivalent technical field from an accredited institution
    • A minimum of Five (5) years software or software integration manager experience in automotive/power conversion industry
    • A minimum of three (3) firmware/software development experience with high voltage power electronics products such as DCDC converter/OBCs/inverters/UPS for industrial or aerospace or military drives, battery electric or hybrid electric vehicles
    • Strong communication skills that translate the benefits of technical decisions in your field to colleagues, management, and other stakeholders, including customers
    • Experience with C coding, model-based design and HIL
    • Familiar with safety and compliance process/standards for automotive such as ISO26262 and ASPICE
    • Experience with AUTOSARNice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):
      • Master's degree or PhD majoring in power electronics from an accredited institution
      • Seven (7) plus years' firmware/software experience with high voltage power electronics product development
      • Three (3) plus years PFC and/or LLC/CLLC firmware/software development experience
      • Power electronics hardware, topology and software architecture knowledge
      • Hands on experience with power electronics product control system development, digital control implementation, signal process, PID controller optimization and sensor technologies
      • Experience with CAD tools: circuit and behavioral simulation (SPICE, Plecs/PSIM, Saber, Matlab/Simulink)
      • Strong Trade off analysis and experience with hardware software interface and requirements
