Job Description:
**Description**
Position Goal: Enable a provider and patient experience of the
electronic record, analytics, and health technology that empowers
patients to improve their health and quality of life.
**Responsibilities**
_Key Performance Indicators:_
+ Provider EHR experience (as measured by ARCH Collaborative or
similar validated measure; include measurement of clinician 'pajama
time' (ie charting nights/weekends), use of e-consults, registries,
etc.)
+ Patient experience (as measured by a subset of CG-CAHPS and other
measures that are influenced by the effective use of clinical
information technology; may include measures of digital
transformation such as use of video visits, patient portal use,
online scheduling, etc.)
+ Impact of informatics enabled interventions to improve care for
high risk groups (e.g. e-consults to reduce wait time for specialty
care, remote patient monitoring and medication adherence to improve
chronic disease management, integration of guidelines into clinical
workflows, accurate and compliant charting by clinicians to ensure
appropriate clinical interventions are targeted toward appropriate
groups)
+ _Strategic responsibilities:_
+ _Strategy:_ Develop, socialize, and implement a clinical
informatics and technology 3-year strategy that achieves the above
goals in collaboration with leadership, operational leaders, IT,
population health, EHR, and analytics
+ _Assessment:_ Develop a framework to assess care technology
usability, functionality, reliability, and effectiveness from both
the individual clinician's and the organization's perspective.
+ _Governance and Prioritization:_ Enable effective health
information technology governance that manages demand for limited
resources and prioritizes work that drives meaningful outcomes.
Ensure clinicians feel engaged and respected in technology-related
decision-making by partnering with market and national leaders,
developing feedback forums, and creating closed-loop communication
channels with stakeholders
+ _Operational responsibilities:_
+ _People:_ Drive clinical informatics SMEs and super-users to
effectively support division and market teams in optimal use of
informatics tools and resources
+ _Training:_ Partner with IT, Population Health, and EHR teams to
support high-quality clinician informatics training
+ _Workflows:_ In collaboration with operational leaders, champion
innovative and efficient technology-enabled clinical workflows
**Required Qualifications**
+ 5 or more years of management experience
+ A current and unrestricted license in at least one jurisdiction
and willing to obtain license, as required, for various states in
region of assignment
+ MD or DO degree
+ Board Certified in an approved ABMS Medical Specialty
+ _Characteristics of the qualified candidate:_
+ A highly credible clinical leader with deep understanding and
empathy for the clinician and patient pain points in the day-to-day
use of clinical information technology
+ Capable of developing and socializing a strategic informatics
plan
+ Understanding of and experience with deploying technology to
support value-based care
+ A passionate advocate for improving clinician and patient
experience and effectiveness through enabling technology
+ An effective convener and synthesizer of clinical perspectives on
health information technology who can appropriately and
thoughtfully steward clinical and patient needs
+ Comfortable managing with influence in the context of multiple
operational, development, and deployment initiatives in a matrixed
environment through partnership with shared service and market
clinical leaders and teams
+ Familiar with applicable health IT regulatory requirements and
comfortable actively promoting organizational understanding and
compliance
+ Experience leading large-scale electronic health record and
technology change management projects and deployments
+ Formal certification in clinical informatics/technology or
equivalent working experience
+ _Year-One Critical Success Factors:_
+ Create and socialize a 3-year clinical informatics strategy
+ Develop positive and effective working relationships with all
informatics stakeholders, especially operational partners and
leaders
+ Establish an informatics balance scorecard that tracks the
position's key performance indicators
+ Support an effective e-consult program
