Provide Vocational English instruction in the Employment and
Placement Services program in consultation with the Director under
Michigan's Refugee Assistance Program (RAP).
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach VELT classes in factories, community locations or in the
Maintain and enhance professional qualifications relevant to the
duties of the position.
Design, update and implement customized curriculum for each VELT
location as needed.
Assist in finding new locations for classes.
Maintain all required attendance records, client information,
forms and other needed documentation of services in a timely

Bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, TESL,
TEFL, TESOL or related human services or education field. Master's
Vocational training and ESL teaching. Cross-cultural training or
experience of living in and relating to other cultures
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrate ability to use needed technology and computer
software necessary for curriculum development and class
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; strong
public speaking/presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, clients and
constituency, especially in cross-cultural contexts.
Must be physically able to teach and adapt to a variety of
