As we plan for continued growth, Ducker is seeking an experienced Consulting Market Analyst to join our team in our Troy, MI location (remote position initially due to pandemic).

Overview of the Position:

The Senior Market Analyst position is an integral part of the research team and is expected to contribute to the organization and manage the day-to-day execution of client projects. This position will be responsible for advanced information gathering, business/report writing and analysis. This position reports to an Engagement Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

Manage Research Process

  • Understand and execute the research process and steps involved in conducting research projects
  • Independently manage timelines and effectively work to meet established project timelines
  • Communicate project process or timing barriers/challenges to managers
  • Continue developing and implementing creative problem-solving skills with confidence
  • Manage more of the overall process of achieving project objectives and goals
  • Design, manage and oversee quality control processes for information gathering throughout the project (not just at the end)
  • Identify and resolve potential issues in research process (initial and ongoing) and bring to manager's attention
  • Understand and apply knowledge to multiple Ducker/business-to-business research practices and project types, including:
  • Market Intelligence: Competitive Intelligence, Market Size/ Segmentation/Opportunity, Due Diligence
  • Coach and direct junior team members on proper execution of methodology
  • Liaise with the research staff, including briefing/debriefing


Fieldwork and Information Gathering Process
  • Conduct necessary in-depth primary research (i.e., telephone interviews, personal interviews, both structured/unstructured, with industry people
  • Independently develop or manage the development of contacts/respondents for both project team and individual fieldwork
  • Design and write study instruments (quantitative, programming outlines using logic, skip patterns, etc.) for information collection
  • Apply experience and creativity to business/market analysis tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of information gathering
  • Monitor and guide information gathering of other researchers - include suggestions for course corrections
  • When relevant, determine sample sizes and other critical methodology elements for research efforts
  • Act as the point of contact with external vendors, participating in negotiations and problem solving
  • Conduct secondary research data collection using various secondary sources, guide team members on proper method for secondary searches

Analysis and Report Writing
  • Understand, interpret, and analyze fieldwork results, secondary findings, and client reported data while providing ideas and reasoning behind the recommendations
  • Using multiple sets of fieldwork inputs (both qualitative and quantitative) apply fieldwork findings to study objectives; organization of information sets to support modeling, segmentation, charting, other deliverables relevant to client objectives
  • Develop story lines, outcomes/deliverables and write a complete report with client ready slides with insightful conclusions that tie back to program objectives
  • Build models to predict outcomes
  • Develop business/report writing skills, standards in written work
  • Utilize creative techniques for information representation

Client Experience and Meetings
  • Interact directly with the client and provide input to/entire updates on project progress
  • Attend all client meetings and presentations - including presentation of body of report and actively sharing insights during discussions
