Job Description:
The Telecommunications Engineer position supports Flagstar's
complex telecommunications and collaboration systems, applications,
and infrastructure. Provide engineering support which includes,
design, configuration, deployment, support, administration,
monitoring and analysis. Areas of responsibility include: ---
Oversees engineering and implementation of new telecommunications
system, upgrades to existing systems and services. --- Responsible
for the security, design, performance of all Telecommunications
systems --- Ensure compliance of all Telecommunications
infrastructure and applications --- Act as the technical lead on
the team supporting, and coaching other Telecom team members. ---
Participates in the evaluation of vendor hardware, software, and
telecommunications equipment products; recommends purchases
consistent with the organizations short and long term objectives.
--- Participates as a member of the Bank's incident response team
in the event of a technology emergency or outages --- Preparation
of system activity and capacity reports --- Technical delivery lead
of new technology or feature enhancements --- Assist with budget
preparation --- Develop, maintain, or implement Telecommunications
disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity --- Keep
abreast of changes in industry practices and emerging
telecommunications technology by reviewing current literature,
talking with colleagues, participating in educational programs,
attending meetings or workshops, or participating in professional
organizations or conferences --- Test and evaluate hardware and
software to determine efficiency, reliability, or compatibility
with existing systems. --- Provide user support by diagnosing
network and device problems and implementing technical or
procedural solutions. --- Monitor and analyze system performance,
such as network traffic, security, and capacity --- Responsible for
successfully operating and maintaining company's voice
communications systems and networked services at peak efficiency
with minimal disruption.
- Engineer and implement new telecommunications voice systems and
voice network services, and upgrades to existing systems and
services. Produce test plans for implementations and upgrades, and
ensure quality by performing thorough testing. Participate in
business continuity planning and testing.
- Apply knowledge of telecommunications voice technologies to
identify and provide solutions for complex business needs. Work
with various business groups to understand future/growth needs,
translate these needs into requirements, and architect supporting
solutions.
- Perform capacity planning and reporting, and operational system
maintenance tasks including patching, and proactive resets and
reboots to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve telecommunications systems
alarms and problems in accordance with enterprise-wide Service
Level Agreements.
- Develop, document, and maintain configuration standards and
operating procedures for telecommunications voice systems and voice
network.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and cross-training.
- Perform system administration on enterprise telecommunications
systems, applications and infrastructure.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local
laws and regulations. - Completes all required compliance training.
- Maintains knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal
compliance policies and procedures. - Takes responsibility to keep
up to date with changing regulations and policies.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or foreign equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science plus 5 years of work
experience OR 10 years of comparable work experience. -
- Cisco CCNA Voice/ Collaboration or CCNP Voice/ Collaboration
certification.
- 7 years in telecommunications systems engineering.
- 5 years of experience in a Cisco environment.
- 1 year of experience leading and developing others either
formally or informally.
- Expert engineer in the design, support, and implementation of
Telecommunications systems.
- Expert knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications systems (Call
Manager, Unity Connection, Presence, Expressways).
- Expert knowledge of Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise, or
experience with other contact center solutions with a strong focus
on design, call flow, and reporting.
- Expert knowledge of collaboration systems and Video
Conferencing (WebEx, Jabber, Video).
- Expert knowledge of telecommunications management technologies
and reporting systems.
- Expert knowledge with call recording and work force management
solutions.
- Advanced experience with voice network design and working with
telecommunications carriers. - Working knowledge of T1, DS3, SIP,
infrastructure wiring schemes, and other telecommunications
services, protocols, and - standards.
- Project coordination/project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to clearly communicate complex technical
concepts to non-technical end users.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communications
skills.
- Expert analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
